Rise and Shine Oat Milk Recipe

How to Make your own Oat Milk at Home.

Making your Own Oat Milk

This is quite a recent discovery for me and I must say I love it! also a delicious alternative to dairy or nut milk and equally if not more nutritious due to its Calcium and Magnesium content.  Although I’m loving the new varieties of Oat Milks in the Supermarket I realised if I was to use this as a regular alternative it would prove quite expensive as around £1.79 for a litre, so thinking cap on and a bit of research I thought lets try this at home!

The Benefits

  • Vegan
  • Lactose Free
  • Vitamin Rich
  • Low Fat and Cholesterol Free
  • Tonic for the Nervous System (Calming)
  • Inexpensive

  • 1 Cup of Wholegrain Rolled Oats
  • 4 Cups of Water and additional 2 Cups
  • 3/4 Dates to Sweeten
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Pinch of Salt
  • You will also need a Cheesecloth or Muslin Material though a Sieve will fine too!

Soak 1 Cup of Wholegrain Oats to 4 cups of water overnight

By morning drain water so you are left with just the oats

Then pour the oats and the with 2 cups of water, chop dates, vanilla extract and a pinch of salt into the blender and blend on high until smooth

Strain the oat milk by pouring it through a cheesecloth or muslin material, if you do not have these available then a sieve will be ok

Squeeze the mixture out through the bag into a jug or a bowl (I recommend a bowl to avoid spillage) until there is no more milk left and then discard the residual oat pulp

Transfer to the Fridge as best served chilled

Let’s put our Oat Milk to good use with some fab recipes,  I’ve put together a few links to some expert Cooking Blogs
